New Book Cover Reveal! Coming April 30th!

  • On March 14, 2024

I found my voice in my late 20’s when I decided to own my own leadership.

Having spent my early elementary school years in Korea, “Yeolshimhee” (loosely translated to working diligently) was the mantra we were taught, and students learned to be quiet and obedient. As the new kid on the block in my NYC elementary school, what was accepted (even, rewarded) could not have been more different. The dual messages caused confusion that carried into my professional working life. Throughout my career, the expectations of how to perform at work were often at odds with what had been deeply ingrained at home.

Having to defend my capability even after I gained credibility as a leader made me realize how pervasive assumptions can be, and how much it affected both the way I acted in the workplace as well as other people’s perceptions of me. I noticed patterns where I had been underestimated because of what I look like. I’ve also felt the frustration that comes from not having the right support & sponsorship when it comes to advancing your career even after you’ve proven yourself.

For the past 20+ years I have been working to close this cultural gap for Asian Americans inside Fortune 500 companies.

I wrote this next book for all of you who trusted me with your personal stories. I’ve grown because you’ve moved me deeply with your own courage and vulnerability. Despite the collective efforts of many, I’m convinced more than ever that this work needs to continue.

As one who has found my leadership voice, it is my mission in life to help others find theirs.

I can’t wait to introduce you to the real life leaders and their stories of personal breakthroughs in this next book. 💡
